Tečovice Church

Probably the oldest structural monument of the Zlín region is the small
original Romanesque church, whose foundations were recently discovered. Built on its site in the 2nd half of the 13th century was the current Church of St. James the Greater. The nave and the presbytery are decorated with the original wall paintings. These frescoes were painted sometime in the 14th century. According to experts, a number of artists contributed to their creation. The entire nave except for its front wall was decorated with frescoes.

Also significant is the Gothic portal, whose origin is attributed to the construction of an ironworks in the Cistercian monastery in Velehrad. The small church belongs among the most valuable ecclesiastical objects, both historically and culturally, of southeastern Moravia.
